I have had the pleasure of assisting buyers and sellers with their Real Estate needs, for over 12 years now. In my prior lifetime, I owned a traditional business, with 50+ employees, and all of the traditional costs and headaches that can accompany that. I made a VERY good living, but absolutely hated going into work every day. I LOVE the Real Estate business, and LOVE coming to work every day. There aren’t many businesses out there where you can get paid for helping folks realize their dreams.
I was born and raised in Norman, Oklahoma, and am a DIED IN THE WOOL OU Sooner fan!! Of course, when you live your entire life 20 minutes from the stadium, and graduate from the University, you don’t have much choice! I met my wife of 30+ years, our Junior year in High School. We began dating then, and have been dating every since. After spending the majority of our adult life in Oklahoma, we moved to a resort community, Lake of the Ozarks, MO, in 2006. That is where I began my real estate career. My wife became a Special Education Teacher, with an emphasis in Blind & Low Vision. That is actually what brought us to Alaska, as she was offered a position teaching and assisting severely disabled children, in the most remote parts of Alaska. She travels about 2 weeks out of the month, throughout the school year, all over this beautiful state…..and not always on a commercial jumbo jet!!! We’ve been blessed with 2 adult children, a son, who lives with his wife, in Kansas City, MO, and a daughter that is currently living in Paris, France, completing research for her PHD. We were also blessed with our first grandchild not long ago. Our son was born blind, which has provided the fuel and passion for my wife’s career.
My hobbies and interest are probably fairly similar with most in Alaska: I enjoy fishing, golfing, and we both enjoy just exploring this wonderful state. Regrettably, I’ve never really gotten into hunting. One of the things that I like so much about sport fishing is the ability to catch and release. Not much catching and releasing when hunting! After living 10 years on a lake, in the lower 48, and fishing constantly for Black Bass, crappie, catfish, etc., I have found fishing in Alaska to be VERY different. First thing I had to get used to was “Combat Fishing.” I’d never done any of that, in my life, until fishing here. When those salmon are in…..a guy may want to wear a helmet fishing. Hahahahahaha
In addition to my love of Real Estate I am also a professional photographer. Feel free to look at some of my work on: www.ToddBlackPhotography.com.
We’re loving it here. Love the beauty of the state, and loving the climate as well. I am really looking forward to meeting you, working hard for you, and helping you achieve your Real Estate dreams and goals!!!
